Making it Work
You've decided that, yes, you're in it for the right reasons and ready to move forward. Great! Here are a few tips to keep your new May-December romance on its feet.
Be prepared for additional struggles. Opposing views and opinions are always going to be present in relationships. But keep in mind that those differences will often be greater when a large age gap is present. Try to be patient going into it.
Don't sweat the small stuff. There are always going to be things you want to do or see or talk about that your partner does not. The larger the age gap between you, the greater chance of there being small issues (one wants to stay in, another go out, etc.) that will try to come between you. Don't let those little non-issues become big issues.
Learn from each other. Dating or even internet dating somebody from a different generation can actually be a lot of fun if you let it. Take the time to learn from each other and enjoy the differences in your generations and your point of view. Maybe your new partner grew up watching old movies that you've never seen... watch those movies with them! Opening your mind to your partner's differences won't only teach you more about the person you're dating, it will also give you a wider, richer perspective on the world. So have fun with it!
